MINUTES OF SOFTBALL GENERAL MEETING

9/1/2009 ORCHARD CREEK LODGE

 

Meeting called to order at 3:03 by President John Bush. Missing were Steve Russo, Bruce Briggs, and Marty Rubin. 79 members in attendance.

 

Moved and seconded that the minutes be accepted as posted on the web site. Passed unanimously.

 

John introduced a representative from Neighbors In Need who told us about what they do for our community.

 

Treasurer Bruce Briggs's report was read by John Bush. We had monthly revenues of $803.00 and expenses of $1,865.62 for a net of (-$1,062.62) and a current bank balance of $4,998.88. Moved and seconded to accept as read. Passed unanimously.

 

Dave Rich reported that a quorum was present. Therefore it was moved and seconded that the candidates to the Board be approved. Passed unanimously. Officers were announced as follows: President, Vince Del Pozzo; 1st VP, Jim Stocker; 2nd VP Marty Rubin; Treasurer, Bruce Briggs; Secretary, Dave Rich; Player Representative, Dar Gallaway; Commissioner, Stan Young.

 

At President John Bush's request, moved and seconded that the League consider playing some games on Friday. Motion was tabled until the new Board is seated.

 

Dar's report:

         Gary Dutro is out of the hospital.

         He will contact managers regarding uniforms.

         The draft for Winter League Ball will be held on 10/2, with play beginning

                    on November 2.

 

Stan's report:

         Rules Committee will meet in September to discuss Winter Ball and the

                    possible use of a “women's ball.”

         Fishing Derby will be held on Saturday, 9/19. Volunteers are needed.

 

John Bush gave Marty Rubin's report:

         Tomorrow, September 2, is the deadline for signing up for the banquet.

 

Montie's report:

         130 players are now signed up for Winter Ball.

         Dar and Dale Hurlbut will conduct the draft on October 2.

         The schedule for the 1-pitch tourney is on the web site.

         The schedule for the playoffs will be posted tomorrow (September 2).

         Questions: What if there is a tie in a playoff game: A: The International

                   tiebreaker will be used. In the 1-pitch tourney what if a team doesn't

                   have enough players? A: Decision will come soon.

         Montie thanked the League for allowing him to serve.

President John thanked the League and said he has had 2 great years and that he was surrounded by good people.

 

Stan thanked John for his leadership.
