MINUTES OF SOFTBALL GENERAL MEETING
7/7/09
ORCHARD CREEK LODGE
Meeting called to order
at 3:00 by President John Bush. Missing
were Stan Young and Dar Galloway. 44 members in attendance.
It was announced by president John Bush that the following
had put there names forward for 2009-2010 board positions: David Rich, Bruce Briggs, Vince Del Pozzo and Jim Stocker.
John also acknowledged all that helped during the All Star
weekend as well as those participating in the games.
Treasurer Bruce Briggs announced with money made from the
weekend our account was around $5,300.00 and that we still had a money market
certificate in the bank of $25,000 plus.
Under health and wellness, it was noted that Paul Krow, Linda Brandelius, and John
French were mending from their ailments and all were present at the meeting.
Marty Rubin said all was going good for the end of year
banquet and that price for the meal would be the same, $15 per person and that
Steve Russo announced that instead of different selected games for
the 10th anniversary celebration, the league was considering a one
pitch tournament with current teams. Logistically, this would work a lot better
and the one held four years ago was a great success.
Monty Boatwright said that rating sheets for managers would
be sent out in the next couple of weeks.
He also mentioned the game against
New Business: John Habein brought up the infield situation and the lack of
softness in it. He suggested a vigorous
watering program be installed or at least looked at to help the summer hardness
that makes the field a dangerous place to play.
After much discussion by several members, a motion was made that the
league investigate the problem and see what can be done to eliminate the
hardness that occurs each year during the summer. Habein said that
possibly getting an additional 3 water outlets and watering by hand might help
this problem. Motion carried and was
approved by majority of those in attendance.
