Minutes of  LHSSL Softball meeting 5/12/09 Presentation Hall  

 

Meeting called to order at 2:05 pm by president John Bush.  All board members present as well as 46 additional members.

 

John told the membership that towards the end of todays meeting we would be handing out scholarships to three Lincoln High Students.

 

          Treasurer Bruce Briggs let the membership know that after Opening Day expenses we were $400 to the black.

 

J.R. Jackson brought up the use of an 11 inch ball for women participating in the softball league.  After much discussion, it was decided that the use of the ball on an experimental basis may be done during winter league play. 

 

Bob Zielinski brought up the issue for allowing more than someone running twice in a game.  He was told that it would stand as is for now.   It was also brought up that the league should vote on this and was told that the recommendation of the rules committee was brought to the board and approved by them.

 

John gave ideas for the 10 yr celebration in September.  He said right now we were planning events over the weekend and Monday.

 

Stan said that Hot Dog Days would be once a month,  probably in the middle of the month and would commence on Wednesday the 20th.

 

          John and former board member Vince Del Pozzo handed out the three annual 

$750 scholarships to deserving Lincoln High students.  They were selected from over 30 applications submitted.  This years recipients were Sarah Bietz, Grace Everett, and Chelsie Nakasone.
