DAVE RICH
Moved and seconded that the minutes of the October meeting
be approved as posted on the web site – passed unanimously.
BRUCE BRIGGS
Treasurer's
Report: In October, we had revenues of $170 and expenses of $1,047.60 for a
monthly net of -$877.60. Our ending balance in the checking account is
$1,672,81. Moved and seconded that the report be approved – passed unanimously.
VINCE DEL POZZO
Dues proposal update – Non-playing umpires and non-playing
field crew workers will be charged $1 to ensure that they are covered by
insurance while on the field. Scorekeepers will pay $0. Members who wish to
attend the instructional and/or Sunday workout only as well as those playing
Winter Ball only will pay $25. Players who play on travel/ tournament teams
only and do not participate in rec-league ball will pay $40. Full membership
for players and non-playing managers will be $70 and will include twenty
opening day drawing tickets. Accepted unanimously.
JIM STOCKER
Wellness – Now sending out cards. Jim has the Hallmark
program and can create cards as needed. He buys stamps. To date he has sent out
6 cards.
Opening day – Will be held April 24. Games will start on
4/19.
Question: Why not start earlier in April? Answer: We will
have more practice games in early April and no byes. So we will wind up playing
more games in the season. There will be a break from July 3 through 18.
Championship game on September 20.
MARTY RUBIN
Scorekeepers – We have plenty of scorekeepers.
He is working on planning the banquet.
STAN YOUNG
Sunscreens over the first base stands were damaged in the
last storm and needed repair, so they were taken down. The bill will be
presented for payment.
New balls are being tried. Worth and Demarinis will be
brought in during Winter League for evaluation, as well as the 11” ball for
women players. Also, a safety screen is available for any pitcher wishing to
use it. It is at the field.
To
clarify use of can players: managers who are short players will go to the
opposing manager and see if there are any extra players on that team. If not
(or in addition if necessary) any number of players may be drawn from the can
to make up 11 players on the field. There will be no penalty for using can players.
(It used to be that you had to play 1 player short.) As pointed out, Winter
Ball is intended mostly for practicing skills, with no standings or playoffs.
Jim
Wyatt announced that he needs people to help on the field crew.
DAR GALLAWAY
Five players have been placed on Winter League teams. No one
is on the waiting list at this time.
OLD BUSINESS
No old business.
NEW BUSINESS
Paul Krow reminded us about “Wild about Harry,” the November
show for the Theater Group. He is directing a terrific show about Harry Warren,
one of the most prolific song writers from the 30s and 40s. The show features
songs and dance numbers and will provide a wonderful evening for all.
Montie Boatwright brought up that the next Coyote meeting
will be on November 17. If interested in the Coyote teams, come to the meeting
and see how it works. There was some discussion concerning attendance and it
might be good to check with Montie before attending.
Nick Eterovich suggested a one-pitch tourney on opening day
rather than the usual 3-inning games. The idea was met with great enthusiasm.
Have a terrific holiday. We will see you at the next General
Meeting in the Orchard Creek Lodge on February 2, 2010.
Meeting was adjourned at
3:40.
