Lincoln Hills Coyotes 60s - Update 10/18/2009
Lincoln Hills Coyotes 60s win Gold at the Huntsman World Senior Olympics in St. George, Utah. The 60's team put together an incredible effort by everyone on the team to win three consecutive games in the finals to win the championship. The team was led by the outstanding pitching of Nick Eterovich who went 4-0 in the Championship round giving up only 9, 7, 9, and 3 in those wins for a 7 runs allowed average. The great defense helped immensely led by Dale Hurlbut, Bruce Chappell on the infield and Jerry Dong and Roger Cain in the outfield.
The great hitting team really showed in the Gold games. Needing two wins to claim the Gold, the 60s won 21-9 and 15-3, hitting .938 going 30-32 as a team in one game before the final. The team's only loss in the championship round was a thrilling 20-19 loss, making the team win three consecutive on the last day to complete with a 5-1 record and the Gold Medal.
Every team member contributed in the hitting. Led by RBI leaders Nick Fox 22-28 (.786); and Jim Jones 20-26 (.769), three home runs; Dale Stephens 17-23 (.739) with two inside the park home runs; Jerry Dong 23-32 (.719) HR; Roger Cain 16-26(.615) HR; Dick Hughes (.769); Bob Zielinski (.714); Al Gardner 15 hits; Dale Hurlbut 13 hits, HR; Randy Dvorak 13 hits; Owen Brosh 10 hits, Bruce Chappell 14-22, (.636).
The pinch running played a great part of the Coyotes wins led by Jerry Dong, Roger Cain, Kenny Fedder, and Owen Brosh. Great support, provided by Roger Louthan and Montie Boatwright, had every member add to this experience everyone will long remember in the first Coyotes 60s Senior Olympics Gold. Each player's wife presented them with their gold medals in the ceremonies, as all were present and made it extra special.
Coyotes 60s have been really successful in their last 5 tournaments with two consecutive tournament 1st Places and two ties for 2nd place in the Norcal Championship and Penn Valley Tournaments.
The 60's very successful season has one remaining tournament in Pleasanton on Sat/Sun Oct. 24/25 to go for three in a row.

Sierra League
The 60 Coyotes improved to 9-2 record in Sierra League play with a doublheader sweep of the Fair Oaks Saints.Jim Jones led the way with two towering HR's and 7 RBI's.
Also leading the hitting was Nick Fox 6-7 and 6 runs and Bruce Chappell 6-7 and Randy Dvorak's 5 RBI's.
Penn Valley Tournament
The 60's finished with a respectable 2-3 record in the Penn Valley tournament July 18 and 19th with teams in the 50 and 55 age group included.
The 60's even knocked off the #22 ranked team in N.CAL 21-16, the 55 Timberworks.
The 60's were led by Jim Jones going 13-16 an .812 avg also Randy Dvorak hit ,727 and Bob Zielinski, Kenny Fedder, and Dale Hurlburt each with 9 hits.

The 60 coyotes claimed 3rd place with a 2-3 record in 5 very exciting and close one and two run games at Big league Dreams Fields.The coyotes were led by Bruce Chappell with 14 hits and a .737 avg. and Roger Cain with 13 hits, 2 hr's, 8 rbi's and a .765 avg. In addition Jim Jones had 13 hits, 2 hr's and a team high 16 rbi's. Al gardner also contributed 13 hits and a .684 avg.
The 60 coyotes also improved to 4-1 record in Sierra League play thursday wih a doublheader split in Woodland. Roger cain led the way going 7-8, and Dale stephens and Bruce Chappell going 6-7 and Nick Fox leading the way with 5 rbi's
