LHSSL GENERAL MEETING MINUTES

                            Tuesday, February 12, 2008

                            3:00 PM - Orchard Creek

 

1.  Call to Order

J. R. Jackson, President, called the meeting to order at 3:08 pm.  Board members present in addition to J. R. Jackson were:  Montie Boatwright, Chris Berney, Barry Kendrigan, Vince Del Pozzo, John Bush, and Bruce Briggs.

 

3.     Board Committee Reports

·       Starting on Monday, March 10 the class will run for 10 sessions at Kilaga Springs in the fitness room. 

·       Mondays at 4:00 pm and Wednesdays at 4:30 pm and a 2nd session Mondays at 5:00 pm & Wednesdays at 5:30 pm. 

·       Pitcher’s screen:  J.R. asked players to consider a screen for pitchers.  Members shared comments.  Item will be included on the next agenda.

 

Financial Report, Sunday Practice – Barry Kendrigan

Opening Balance as of 12/31/07      $  8,012.13

Income:                                              $10,035.00

Expenses:                                           $    110.22

Balance 01/31/08                               $17,936.91

 

Motion made and seconded to approve the financial report.  Unanimously approved.

A copy of the Income/Expense Report and Register Report are included as attachment #2.

Summer Schedule, Scoreboard Operators – Bruce Briggs

Opening Day:

 

Try-Outs for New Members, Managers, Draft, One Day a Week Players – Vince Del Pozzo

 

Field, Rules Committee, AED Certification, Full Count vs. 1 & 1 – John Bush

o      Playing rules tabled.

o      Can player rules will not change.

o      Committee recommended elimination of 1 vs. 1 count:  Motion made and approved (95 yes votes – 17 no votes) to have a full count for the summer league.  Game time will remain at 60 minutes with a 5 minute warning prior to the end of the game.  The home plate umpire will determine if the next inning should start or game is concluded at 60 minutes.

·  Stan Young gave information regarding maintenance & preparation of field.  The “crew” of 6 guys arrive 1 ½ hours before the first game.  Many thanks to John French, Bob Kelly, Larry McMaster, Don Massey, Jim Wyatt, and Stan. 

·  City of Lincoln recreation is starting a new “senior” softball league (50 & over) on Tuesday nights starting March 25.  John Habein had brochures for interested members.

 

Next general meeting:  Tuesday, March 11, 2008 -- 3:00 pm - Heights & Gables Room at Orchard Creek Lodge.
