1. Call to Order
J. R.
Jackson, President, called the meeting to order at 3:05 pm. Board members present in addition to J. R.
Jackson were: Montie Boatwright, Chris Berney, Barry Kendrigan, Vince Del Pozzo, John
Bush, Mike Hilton, assistant to Barry, and Stan Young, deputy commissioner.
- A total of 59 members attended the
meeting, which are 10 below the required quorum. A copy of the attendance sheet is
attached to the file copy of the minutes.
- J.R. asked for approval of the September
minutes, which were approved unanimously.
- Welcome to our new members: Rudy Sanderson, Mike Novosel, and David
Rich.
2. Board Committee Reports
General
Comments – J.R. Jackson

Great season and the volunteers did a great job for us. J.R. requesting individuals to become
involved by volunteering for the league.
·
“Tell us if something needs to be done…we will listen. The Board will discuss all issues that come
to us.”
·
Plaque given to George Bungarz for serving as M.O.M. (managers of
managers).
·
Thanks to John Moran for running the instructional league on Thursdays
from 2 to 4 pm.

Motion made
and seconded to approve the financial report.
Unanimously approved.
A copy of
the Income/Expense Report and Register Report are included as attachment #2.
Sunday
Practice: workouts will resume October 21 and continue
until January – 10 am to noon.
Group
Expo: Expo held on September 28 and had a great
turnout. Thanks to volunteers.
Board
Responsibilities, Softball Survey - Chris Berney
- The Board chart of duties has been
emailed to the general membership, put on the website, and posted at the
field.
- Chris shared sections of the softball
survey:
o
89 members responded to the survey – 60 members (68%) rated their
experience #5 (describes very good).
o
15 members (19%) rated their experiences #4.
o
0 members rated a #1 (describes very poor).
o
Over 60 comments: fun, exercise,
social, meeting new players, fellowship, friendship, teamwork, competition,
camaraderie, great group, etc.
o
Positive comments about the Board.
o
Suggestions: 24% want to abolish
the 1 & 1 count. Other comments
about waiver wire, “can,” managers & many individual comments.
o

Winter
Draft, Managers – Vince Del Pozzo
174 players
have signed up for the winter league.
The draft is
Wednesday, October 3 at 8:00 am.
Ten managers
and Vince asked for another member to volunteer – thanks John Moran!
Wellness,
Banquet – Montie Boatwright
Thanks to
Paul Krow for organizing the golf tournament.
Wellness:
- Bruce Barnes had surgery on his foot and
went okay.
- Wayne Reid had gall bladder surgery.
- Dave Ramm had a motorcycle accident
breaking three ribs & collarbone.
Our best
wishes and speedy recovery to Bruce, Wayne & David.
Banquet:
We hope all
of you enjoyed the banquet. We learned a
lot this year and enjoy your input both positive and constructive comments.
Closure
of Field, Winter Dates & Times – John Bush
J.R. &
John met with Chris, director of maintenance.
- Schedule of winter games has been posted
on website.
- Field has been sprayed for
crabgrass. Maintenance reseeding,
putting 600 pounds of surfacing on infield, reworking home plate, and
fixing sprinkler head at pitcher’s mound.
- Addition of a ball rack behind home
plate.
- New weatherproof bulletin/message board
will be installed.
- Scoreboard to be painted.
- Trying to find a solution on the “lip”
problem by adding more surfacing to the infield.
- Spring:
2,400 additional pounds of surfacing on the infield.
- John chairs the rules committee and
asking for volunteers.
- ADA training: contact John, and he will set up a
training day.
- Commissioner’s crew: would like to organize a core group of
people (8 to 10) and rotate helping out at the field.
- Comment regarding how hard it is to see
the scoreboard. Bulbs to be
replaced.

Senior Citizens Holiday Luncheon--request of
our members to make food dishes to distribute to our older residents who are in
need. Dishes need to be prepared and
delivered to the “Kitchen Room” at Kilaga Springs by
11:30 am on Friday, December 7. Thanks!!
