LHSSL GENERAL MEETING MINUTES
Tuesday, June 5

1. Call to Order
Bob
Fernandez, President, called the meeting to order at 3:05 pm. Board members present in addition to Bob
Fernandez were: Montie Boatwright, J.R. Jackson, Chris Berney, Barry Kendrigan, Joe Spinali, and Vince Del
Pozzo.
- A total of 52 members attended the
meeting, which were 15 members below the required quorum. A copy of the attendance sheet is
attached to the file copy of the minutes.
- Bob asked for approval of the May
minutes, which were approved unanimously.
2. Board Committee Reports
Wellness,
Banquet – Montie Boatwright
Wellness:
Al Sanders
had knee surgery.
Mike Bunyard
had surgery and is now at home doing well.
Jim Lewis
had a back operation and was visiting at the field.
Bruce Barnes
has a ruptured Achilles tendon.
Wishing all
of them a speedy recovery!
Opening
Day: $4,253.00 in profit and a portion will be
applied towards the banquet.
Banquet: September 25 staring at 5:00 pm. Price increased to $10 due to change of menu.

July 4th
Tournament – Vince Del Pozzo
- Big event - need help and support.
- Scheduled games: Classics 70’s vs. 65
Suneagles; Coyotes 55’s vs. 60’s; managers of recreation league, board
members, & selected members vs. City of Lincoln; possibility of a 4th
game.
- Board received a letter requesting that
the Lincoln Hills Coyote travel teams expand from their current three-team
configuration (55’s, 60’s and 65’s) to include the addition of a 70’s
team. All conditions in Article VII
of the Rules and Regulations will be followed. The new 70’s team will play as an
exhibition team initially and will compete in 2008 entering 5 or 6
tournaments.
- Motion made, seconded and passed to
accept the proposal when the general manager of the Coyotes program, Pete
Savoia, signs the letter.
Field
Usage & Closures, Equipment Drive -
J.R. Jackson
- Field closed July 2 – 3 – 9 - 10 – 11.
- July maintenance: staff will place soil conditioner on
outfield tracks and extra will be put in the infield. More watering in the outfield.
- Weed treatment continuing & cleanup
on whole complex in July.
- Equipment drive for disadvantaged
students – June 4 through 25.
Clinic has been conducted at Don Julio JHS.
- Rule changes: If request for a rule change, please
follow our process listed on the website and at the field. Meeting will be held after the season
ends.
- Dr. Pottenger, orthopedic, will conduct
a workshop in the future on “alternatives to surgery.”
- Recycle cans: please recycle bottles and cans at the
field. Money goes to the league.
- Coyote Drive Drawing: please buy tickets.
- Golden State Collision provided water
and bottle holders to all teams on Monday, June 4. Many thanks to this business.
- Bob Fernandez and J.R. Jackson attended
the awards ceremony at Lincoln High School and presented $500 scholarships
to four deserving students (Emmanuel Ayala, Elise Berenson, Olivia Orteza
and Harrison Eide).
- Hot dog sales will be on Wednesday, June
13.
Playoff
Scheduling – Joe Spinali
- Joe showed a chart for the double
elimination tournament. Tentative
dates: September 10, 12, 14, 17 and
championship game on 19.
Spectator
Conduct, No Make-Up Games – Bob Fernandez
- No make-up games due to cancellation
from the heat. The league needs the
dates for the double elimination tournament.
- Spectator conduct: some people in the stands making
negative or ethnic comments, swearing, etc. Bob emphasized that this is a
recreational league, and all members need to have a positive
attitude. We’re playing to have
fun!
- Nomination committee has been appointed
to select names for future board members.
Anyone interested in applying for an open board position can
contact any board member and/or one of the three nomination committee
members: Vince Del Pozzo, Ed
Sorenson or Forest Burkett. The new
board member(s) will be selected at our August general meeting.
3. Old Business
- Question regarding allowing throwing
balls between innings. Rules and
Regulations state that practice allowed 1st inning only. This rules keeps the majority of games
on time.
- Request that scorekeepers communicate
with Joe Spinali when unable to score a game.

Softball golf tournament – Paul
Krow
We have 16 teams but could use more single
players. Players are asked to play in
their softball uniform shirt.

Gables Room at Orchard Creek Lodge
