Sun Eagles 65 at World Senior Games - St. George, Utah 2006
Sun Eagles 65 softball team participated in the World
Senior Games in St. George Utah October ninth through the
twelfth. Sun Eagles had one win and 2 losses during the final
rounds.
The Sun Eagles joined the 60 and 65 Coyotes who also played at St. George.

Sun Eagles 65’s overcame a 2 run deficit in the bottom of the seventh to take second place in Chico tournament from the Nor-Cal Hornets. Cliff Eppard drove in the winning run with the bases loaded and one out.
Sun Eagles 65’s won 4 and lost 2 games over the weekend. Ron Waisner pitched in all six games and held the championship Oregon Roadrunner team to one run in a 3 to 1 victory in the first game Sunday morning. In addition to the fine pitching performance Waisner caught 4 steaming shots back to the pitcher. He completed this performance by going 10 for 18 and a 556 batting average.
Dar Gallaway led the team with a 739 batting average and Wayne Reed and Ron Morin batted over 600. Seven players batted over 500: Alley, Gallaway, McMasters, Morin, Reid, Schall and Waisner. Alley, Eppard, Gallaway, Haworth, Kelly and Reid combined with 42 RBI’s.
Defense was the reason for the victories with only 7 errors in 6 games. Fifty one outs were made in the outfield by Alley, Haworth, Kelly and Gallaway. Contributing to the winning record were Cosgrove, Holland, Jones and Klea.
Lincoln Hills Sun Eagles 65 Senior Softball Team won the Red Division at the Turlock NCSSA spring tournament. The Sun Eagles recorded four wins and one loss during the two day tournament at Pedretti Park in Turlock, California.
The Sun Eagles scored 66 runs with three homers each from Bill Bigone and John DiGiralamo and single round trippers from Jack Bekowski and Sonny Worman.
Ron Waisner and Sonny Worman pitched superbly and notched two wins each.
Eight senior ballplayers batted over 500 during the tournament: Bill Bigone, Jack Bekowski, John DiGiralamo, Larry Fetzko, Bob Kelly, Larry McMasters, Wayne Reid and Sonny Worman. Seven other players contributed to the Sun Eagles victory: Dar Gallaway, Jay Holland, John Klea, Bill Rexrode, Ron Waisner, Gary Jones and Brad Schall.
The Sun Eagles will play nine tournaments during 2006 and were happy to win their first tournament early in the season.
The Sun Eagles next tournament is in Oroville, California May 6 and 7.

Lincoln Hills Sun Eagles 65 Senior Softball Team won the Red Division at the Turlock NCSSA spring tournament. The Sun Eagles recorded four wins and one loss during the two day tournament at Pedretti Park in Turlock, California.

Sun Eagles 65 senior softball team placed third in the Redding Field of Dreams senior softball tournament. Fourteen Lincoln Hills Sun Eagles senior softball players played at the Field of Dreams Stadium in Redding California March 3 and 4. First day of competition was rained out but the Sun Eagles played in replicas of Yankee Stadium and Fenway Park on the second day.
Larry Fetzko, Jim Lewis, Dick Stancoff and Carl Zierman all batted over 500 during the tournament. Spectacular catches were made by both pitchers; Sonny Worman and Ron Waisner who grabbed line drives up the middle. Bill Rexroad and Jim Lewis both hit homeruns and Sonny Worman drove a long ball to right center and was thrown out at a contested play at home plate. Sun Eagles came close to three home runs in their first tournament of the year.
Sun Eagles next tournament is in Turlock on April 8 and 9.
Cliff Eppard, Larry Fetzko, Jim Haworth, Gary Jones, Bob Kelly, John Klea, Jim Lewis, Wayne Reid, Bill Rexroad, Brad Schall, Dick Stancoff, Ron Waisner, Sonny Worman and Carl Zierman all played a good game for the Sun Eagles.
