LHSSL GENERAL MEETING MINUTES

Tuesday, October 3, 2006

3:00 PM

Orchard Creek Ballroom

1. Call to Order

Bob Fernandez, President, called the meeting to order at 3:03 pm. Board members present in addition to Bob Fernandez were: Joe Spinali, Vince Del Pozzo, Montie Boatwright, J.R. Jackson, Chris Berney, Barry Kendrigan.

• A total of 68 members attended the meeting, which was one above the required quorum. A copy of the attendance sheet is attached to the file copy of the minutes.
• Bob asked for approval of the September minutes, which were approved unanimously.
• Introduction of new members. They were welcomed by the members.
• Bob thanked the previous Board & introduced the new Board members.

Joe Spinali, 1^st VP’s comments:

April 9 – practice can start

April 25 - ending practice day

April 28 – opening day (If rain out, make-up date May 5)

April 30 – first league game

June 27 – end of first half

Week of July 2 – July 15: no league games (July 4 game)

July 16 – start of second half of season

September 5 – end of second half

September 12 – 21: play-offs start (double elimination tournament)

September 24 – all star games & banquet in evening

Barry Kendrigan, treasurer’s comments:

Barry will handle all of the financial responsibilities for the league.

J.R. Jackson, commissioner’s comments:

Field use: must be cleared through J.R.. Managers need to contact J.R. through email or phone.

J.R. will be heading the rules committee.

J.R. will be the liaison with Chris, field manager.

Decision was made that each divisional winner will get pins; winners of championship will receive T-shirts.

Recycling will continue throughout the season.

Chris Berney, secretary’s comments:

Chris will communicate through emails regarding general meetings & other communications from the Board.

Some emails were lost in the transition from the former secretary. If members are not receiving emails, they should notify Chris at 434-7719 or chrisberney@ssctv.net.

Montie Boatwright, 2^nd VP’s comments:

Montie will be responsible for the wellness program by sending cards for ill & injured members. If you know of a member, please contact Montie at

434-5089 or mjboatwright@starstream.net.

Montie will be in charge of the end of the season banquet.

Brad Schall congratulated traveling teams and thanked everyone for their help.

Bob Fernandez, President’s comments:

Special thanks to Ross Pelton, Pat Jewell, Ron Olson, Nick Mastrella, Stan Young, Paul Krow, Hal Connors, Ed Sorensen, Bob Kelly for contributing to our league.

Requesting help from a member to make a white board for the field that will tolerate weather conditions. Please contact a Board member.

Requesting someone to do a newsletter profiling members of the league. Please contact a Board member.

Remarks regarding sportsmanship & enjoying the game. Bob shared a letter from Dave regarding support & encouragement.

2. Board Committee Reports

• Winter schedule – Vince Del Pozzo

October 4 – draft

Start of season: Monday, October 23, 2006 to Wednesday,

January 10, 2007 excluding Thanksgiving & two weeks in

December.

Vince introduced the winter managers.

• Financial – Barry Kendrigan

Opening balance as of 9/1/06: $13, 599.01

Closing balance as of 10/1/ 06: $ 3,948.56

Playoff concessions net income $ 908.85

A copy of the Income/Expense Report, Register Report, & Playoff

Concessions report is included as attachment #2.

• Wellness – Montie Boatwright

Rich Daniels: Rich is recovering at home after a week in the hospital. We wish Rich a speedy recovery. Please keep him in your

thoughts & prayers.

• Playing rules – J.R. Jackson

Rules committee (Ross Pelton, Larry McMaster, Norm Scott, Allen Appell, Steve Russo, Forrest Burkett, George Bungarz (alternate)) will be meeting at the end of the month. If anyone would like to submit a proposal regarding a rule, please give it to a committee member.

3. Old Business

Bob announced end of the season standings and made comments regarding playoffs & All Star games. Congratulations to all.

4. New Business

• Winter draft – October 4
• LHSSL Website – Introduction of Ron Olson, webmaster
• Next general meeting: Thursday, November 9 -- 2:00-3:45 pm

5. Open Forum

• Question regarding field. Sod & turf analysis on October 16, 17 & 18. J.R. has communicated with Chris, field maintenance director.
• Comment regarding banquet – “excellent!”
• Question regarding using fields in Lincoln.
• Question regarding pennants for each winner of the leagues.
• Thanks to Paul Krow for a successful golf tournament.
• Question regarding buying or constructing a new bulletin board at the field (Dave Alley volunteered).

Meeting adjourned at 4:07 pm.
